Transportation Industry
Genova’s experience in the Transportation services industry started in 1995 with the Railway Health Monitoring System development for railroad industry. In addition to the work that was performed for the railroad industry Genova developed applications for the Heavy Highway Trucking industry and Emergency roadside assistance vehicles.
Freeway Service Patrol – Traffic Management Team Application (FSP-TMTA)
An integrated local government division contracted Genova to provide enhancements for an existing application to be used in a new system. These enhancements would allow their customers to electronically dispatch and track emergency services vehicles on freeway systems. The new system was required to transmit messages to and from vehicles utilizing existing Radio Frequency technology. Messages are sent and received at a central Dispatching station where they are displayed to the dispatchers as well as stored in a database for future auditing purposes.
Genova gathered requirements for the project which proved especially difficult as the new functionality was to be built on top of an existing system for which the requirements were not fully documented.
Genova worked to document not only the new system's functionality, but also the functionality of the existing system. Following requirements analysis, Genova implemented, tested, and deployed the FSP-TMTA Application.
Mobile Satellite Tracking System
The Mobile Satellite Tracking System (MSTS) is a multithreaded client/server database application that provides real time messaging to and from mobile terminals located in vehicles in the trucking industry. MSTS provides real-time health monitoring of those vehicles as well as a repository to store that information for reporting purposes. The mobile terminals send data over radio and satellite links to the MSTS base station which routes it over TCP/IP WAN links to the customer's MSTS server.
Dispatchers use the MSTS Client software to receive real-time information as well as to keep updated on the condition of the equipment. Additionally, they can view and respond to a variety of text-based messages the Mobile Terminal Operators may wish to send. MSTS also provides a TCP/IP interface, which can be used by third party CAD software packages to send and receive messages.

Railway Health Monitor System
The Railway Health Monitor System (RHMS) is a multithreaded client/server database application that provides real-time health monitoring of railroad locomotives. RHMS allows for quick turnaround in the rail repair facilities as problems are diagnosed while the train is still in service.
When the locomotive enters the repair facility, parts required for repairs are already available and the appropriate service technicians are prepared to work on the repairs. This system drastically reduces downtime for the railway.
