Government & IT/Data Case Study: PMO Support (FISCPS Bremerton)
DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT:
Under this contract, Genova performs Oracle database administration, compiles reports, collects and converts data, and designs and maintains web applications. Primary program support work involves the migration of an Oracle-based application to an ASP.NET web application, using web services.
Responsibilities include programming the ISIS/SPOE enterprise solution and related applications based on the design that complies with the DON enterprise architecture standards, converting the Oracle based application to include the forms, reports, and application into an ASP.NET web application, querying ad-hoc reports, researching problems, and developing recommended solutions.
System Administration responsibilities include maintaining the system’s servers, performing patches and upgrades as required, monitoring system performance and tuning as needed, and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system maintenance.
The Priority Material Office (PMO) required program support services that included the migration of an Oracle based application to an ASP.NET web application. The new system needed to be web-centric and include enterprise architecture and systems design for integration with the current Department of the Navy (DON) information technology standards.
Our services involved a range of program support in the following areas:
• Oracle database administration
• Web application design and maintenance using C# and ASP.Net
• Report compilation
• Data collection and conversion
• System documentation
Genova began the previous contract in 2007 as a subcontractor but, due to the success during the initial efforts, we were awarded in 2008 this separate continuation contract as a prime. The new contract was 14,000 hours and allowed our two-person team to work on the U.S. Naval base with the Navy’s project manager. To fulfill our customer’s needs, Genova programmed the ISIS/SPOE enterprise solution and related applications based on the design that complied with the DON enterprise architecture standards. We also converted the Oracle-based application to include the forms, reports, and application into an ASP.NET web application. During the programming stage, our team researched problem situations and developed recommended solutions, maintained the system’s servers and performed patches and upgrades, and documented the system for both technical personnel and users. As needed, we monitored the system’s performance and tuned it appropriately.
